The project that had it all started in 2017 as a web based customer call centre spread over 2 buildings totalling 8 floors along with a central covered atrium which was to host the restaurant serving the 2000 daily staff that would later occupy the space which acted as the world wide customer call centre for the global fashion retailer. This initial phase of works and at the time the only intended phase, consisted of a new external 4 room packaged LV Switch room, 12 kilometres of submain cabling buried in a trench network around the site providing diverse routes to 6 critical comms rooms and the various mechanical plant. Two new UPS systems, 3 new switch panels, de-commissioning of the existing 25,000 litre fuel tank, a complete over haul the existing generators along with adding in a new fuel system complete with new tanks and a new PLC control system to provide load shedding capabilities across the site. And all of that was before you even stepped a foot inside the building.
Once in the building a complete new exposed services electrical system was provided across the 8 floors and common spaces consisting of call centre office spaces, meeting rooms, plant rooms, a gym, a restaurant and commercial kitchen and 6 comms room. Being the whole installation was exposed services there was a real need for the look of the installation to have a ultra sleek and neat appearance with a huge emphasis on the quality of the workmanship.
All fire detection systems, DDA Refuge systems and emergency assist systems were provided, installed and commissioned by our sister company Arena Fire & Security (London) Ltd.
Arena were then asked to return a year later when ASOS had procured the remainder of the site consisting of another 3 blocks totalling another 12 floors bring the total to an impressive 20 floors. These additional floors were then fitted out to the same exacting high standard as the original 8 floors along with more infrastructure works to provide total resilience to site during any potential power failures.
The ASOS journey then continued in the subsequent years, with Arena returning a further two times once to convert an existing floor into 8 large photography studios, to house the designer from the fashion houses website branding team and then a further time when ASOS decided it was time to downsize and split to building into two again with Arena being called upon to modify the infrastructure to suit the revised demise split.
